Sub Spotlight May 2022

Our Substitute Spotlight teacher for the month of May is Tanika Foster!

For the month of May, Tanika Foster has been selected as the Substitute Spotlight! She was one of the first substitute teachers hired within South Carolina, and has accepted many assignments since then. Not only does the Sub Teacher Source team think Tanika is one of the best, but the teachers, staff, and students she works with on a daily basis are all thankful and lucky to have her! When asked about her substitute teaching experience with Sub Teacher Source, she had the following to say:

  1. What made you want to be a substitute teacher?
I became a substitute teacher because I would like to be a part of inspiring, motivating, and guiding the next generation into becoming successful citizens in society. My hope is to spread the knowledge and wisdom that I’ve gained over the years in hopes that it will help them as they navigate and maneuver through life.

  1. What is your favorite thing about being a substitute teacher?
What I enjoy most about being a substitute teacher is seeing how I’ve made a difference in the lives of students. When I walk into the school building and see the smiles on the kids' faces and how happy they are to see me, I know I’ve made a difference by showing them that I care.

  1. When you are not substitute teaching, what do you like to do in your spare time?
In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, spending time with friends and family, and going to the gym.

  1. Why do you feel that is it so important to have good substitute teachers?
It is important to have good quality substitute teachers because oftentimes full-time teachers experience burnout and may need to take time off. Having good substitute teachers during this time will give teachers’ a peace of mind knowing they are leaving their students in the hands of someone who is capable, qualified, and professional.
